The driver of the van who died was identified as Kenneth Elgin Bienfang, Age 87, of Denver, IA. The driver of the Freightliner was Gerald Wayne Cox, age 38, of Berea, KY.

July 11th, 2016

The Waterloo Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred at Dysart Road and E Orange Road. Officers responded to a two vehicle accident at that intersection on July 11th, 2016 at 9:56 AM involving a Ford Windstar van and a Freightliner tractor-trailer.

The driver of the van was northbound on Dysart Rd stopped at the stop sign of E. Orange Rd and began to turn left and was struck by the Freightliner that was going south on Dysart Rd. and failed to stop at the stop sign.

The driver of the van was seriously injured and transported to Covenant Emergency room where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Freightliner received minor injuries and was cited for failing to stop at the stop sign.

The name of the victim, a resident of Denver, Iowa is not being released at this time pending notification of family.
